Middelfart Denmark

It seems many moons ago I was exhibiting and teaching in Middelfart in Demark.
I had a wonderful time meeting many very interesting people from the other  exhibitors to the visiting public.
We , as exhibiting artists( from UK and USA) were SO, so well looked after with transport to and from the airport, special lunches and teas at the event, plus a very comfortable hotel.
It was , for one reason or another a magical time which I will remember fondly.
Thank you to everyone involved in the trip especially the wonderful, organised Inge-Lise.
Here are some of the images taken at the workshop, I was battling with my camera so they may not be the best photos in the world, but I/we did have alot of fun!
The ladies attended came from all over Denmark, travelling great distances, they all did very well with this experimental technique and as we tried to understand each other with all the highly technical and complex  embroidery jargon!! Thank you to my interpreters.......here are their brooches......

Latest news....The day after the happy trip to Denmark, I was diagnosed with breast cancer and am now on an unexpected enforced 'rest' while treatment is ongoing.
Unfortunately , I have had to postpone many workshops and classes in UK and Europe, for which I am very sad about and I apologise to the students and the organisers that had arranged the various events.
In the mean time, I hope to 'play' in my studio as best I can, so who knows what may come out of my 'rest' period!
watch this space!

Artist in Action at Harrogate with Art Van Go

The story so far......I was invited by Viv and Kevin from Art Van Go to become one of their 'Artists in Action'. This is where we are allowed to play with all their art materials, fabrics , papers and a mountain of mediums. What Fun!
As I love experimenting with papers and 3D objects, I set the challenge to dress two lovely manniquins.
One Manniquinn dressed with art papers which started out as white but added brightly coloured dyes, marks and prints. The second I destroyed a magazine and reassembled it with the aid of tissue paper, gesso, paints and print.
The proccess was quite slow due to waiting for the papers to dry, so I used the wall space as my washing line!
This is the journey the dresses took over the four days, we believe 30,000 visitors came to the  four day show so there was alot of chatting between the slopping of paint and explanations of what we were up to.
Day One

Day Two

Day Three

Day Four

This dress had a swirling train  that wrapped around the base  but some how no image came out.

Detail images follows

Shortly I hope to receive images from Art Van Go from their roving photographer

Really enjoyed the show and the project.
The manniquinns are now in my Home studio and one day will dismantle the papers to re use in a sketch book or two!

Artist in Action at Harrogate with Art Van Go

I was invited by Viv and Kevin at Art Van Go to join a team of artists to demonstrate paints ,dyes and printing blocks and mediums. It was like a child in a sweet shop! We had the complete use of all their wonderful products.
As a 3 dimensional artist, I set myself a challenge to 'dress' two manniquins and during the four day event at the Knit & Stitch Show. One manniquin to be dressed in the conventional art papers available but with the addition of colour , the second figure using magazines. Here are the manniquins as seen on the first day..........

Second day

The artpaper dress  developed  using proceon dyes, printing blocks and marcel pens.
Really enjoyed making this dress, sloshing bright colours on papers, printing and making marks finally manipulating the papers to form a flambouyant party dress .....very 'strictly come dancing'!
I loved the gaps in the dress showing the wire frame but had two more days to go, so more layers would be required.

Day three and four will follow!
